Magic: The Gathering

Deck builder

Magic: The Gathering deck builder

Build Commander, Modern, Pioneer and Standard decks from the full Magic catalogue, choosing the exact printing for every slot. Gradely checks the list against the format you pick, charts your mana curve and coloured pips, and marks which cards are already in your collection so you know what is left to buy.

Commander, built properly

Your commander, or a partner pair, sits in its own zone. The deck is counted to 100 with them, and every other card is checked against their colour identity and the singleton rule, so an off-colour card or a stray second copy is flagged before you sleeve up.

Seven constructed formats plus casual

Move a list between Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper and Commander and the right banned list, the Vintage restricted list is applied, and Pauper flags cards that were never printed at common.

Mana curve and pips

The stats panel splits lands from nonlands, plots mana value, averages it, and counts the coloured pips each colour demands, which is what tells you whether your mana base can cast the spells.

Owned, alternate printing or missing

Each slot shows whether you own that printing, own another printing of the card, or need to buy it. Copies already assigned to another deck can be counted as reserved.

Sideboard, companion and maybeboard

Keep 15 sideboard cards, a companion and a maybeboard of cards you are testing alongside the main deck, each in its own zone.

Magic: The Gathering deck rules

Constructed Magic decks run at least 60 cards with a sideboard of up to 15, and no more than four copies of any card by English name, basic lands excepted. Commander decks are exactly 100 cards including the commander, a legendary creature or a card that says it can be your commander. Everything else is a singleton, and no card may have a colour identity outside the commander.

Supported formats

Standard
The rotating format, built from recently released sets plus Foundations as a permanent core set. 60-card minimum and four copies per card.
Modern
Non-rotating, with every card printed from Eighth Edition onward legal apart from the Modern banned list.
Commander
The 100-card singleton multiplayer format led by a legendary commander, with colour identity rules and its own banned list.
Pioneer
Non-rotating, covering sets from Return to Ravnica onward, with a 60-card minimum and a four-copy limit.
Legacy
Every set in the game is legal, subject only to the Legacy banned list.
Vintage
Every set is legal, and the most powerful cards sit on a restricted list that allows one copy across deck and sideboard.
Pauper
Only cards printed at common rarity are legal, which keeps a competitive deck affordable. Any printing of such a card is fine, and the builder flags cards that never had a common printing.
Casual
No legality or copy checks, for kitchen-table games, house rules and anything outside sanctioned play.

Frequently asked questions

Does it check Commander colour identity?

Yes. Any card whose colour identity falls outside your commander's is flagged, and a colourless commander allows only colourless cards. Duplicates beyond the singleton rule and cards on the Commander banned list are flagged too.

Which Magic formats can I validate?

Standard, Pioneer, Modern, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper and Commander. A casual option skips legality and copy checks entirely.

Can I start from a Commander precon?

Yes. Open any preconstructed deck, clone it into your decks and upgrade from there. Owned cards are marked as usual, so upgrade targets are easy to spot.

Can I pick the showcase or borderless version of a card?

Yes. Every printing is its own entry, so you choose the version for each slot, and the deck value in your currency follows the printings you picked.

How do I bring in a list from elsewhere?

Paste a plain text list, one line per card with its quantity, or a GXF file. You can have owned copies from your collection assigned as it imports.
